About Us

Hi I'm Alistair Macneil, the developer behind Healthy Web Sites.

Ever since the days of the ZX Spectrum in the mid 80's I've had a passion for computers which was realised when I graduated from Napier University in 1997 with a BEng in Software Engineering.

With a background in Software Development I began my career with Vickers Defence Systems working on hardware diagnostics.

In 1998 I began a back bedroom venture with my brother Iain who was in the Merchant Navy and we began putting together our first product, Macneil's Seamanship Examiner, an educational aid to young cadets going to sea.

The company, Seamanship International, grew out of the back bedroom and is now located at Strathclyde Business Park.

Having realised my career ambition of coding and project managing the complete Software Life Cycle I took a year out in 2002.

I moved on to do voluntary work in a Natural Health Centre in the Black Isle of Scotland. It was whilst here that I discovered a new passion in herbalism, juicing and detox to give the body the best chance of healing itself.

Returning to the work environment as a detox therapist using a heavy metal test and detox foot spa I soon discovered this wasn't going to pay the bills and soon twinned my old skill set of computing with my new interest in a holistic lifestyle.

I am now working full time in web development partnering with design companies (cant be good at everything) to deliver optimised sites that look the part.

My web design career has evolved from doing basic web sites in to specialising in streamling the sales process and checkout in E Commerce sites and generating traffic for them through organic search results.
